Tiger Woods Rejects Paddy Poker’s Sponsorship Deals
Ever since the Tiger Woods infidelity debacle came to light, several corporate houses distanced themselves from the golf pro. One thing is very clear though he is not pinching himself for not earning some money.
The money bit about the golfer was confirmed after the Irish online poker gaming site Paddy Poker had recently made an announcement that said that the golfer refused to accept its $75 million five year sponsorship.
The rejection of the deal came directly from the Woods’ management company IMG. Paddy Power will not give up so easily and said that they would come back with an offer that will be irresistible.
In a statement released by the company, “Paddy Power remains keen to work with Tiger Woods and will reengage with IMG. An enhanced offer will be made, the details of which will remain confidential.”
IMG mentioned that it would be highly unlikely that the deal would ever be accepted, and that a serious thought was not given to the deal. The PGA rule does not allow its players to promote a few institutions and the gambling industry is one of then.
Ever since stories of his infidelity filled the media the world over, Tiger Woods has been very low key especially away from the public eye. And this was one reason why his secret rendezvous with several women came to light. Woods admitted to his ‘transgressions’ on Dec 2, and even made a public apology on Feb 19.
What no one knows is if the golfer will ever play competitive golf again. However this week there were reports that he was working with his swing coach, Hank Haney. The next golf championship the Masters will begin in Augusta, Georgia on April 8th.
